The York Commons shopping area along Miller Lane in Dayton is about to get two new places to eat.
Singer Properties, developer of the area, is breaking ground on a new 8,200-square-foot building on York Commons Boulevard, which will house a Fazoliís and a McAlisterís Deli, said Alex Kolodesh, a partner with the Oakwood-based development firm.
The McAlisterís will be the Dayton areaís first, and the Fazoliís will bring that chainís local store count up to five.
The Miller Lane area is already seen as a strong retail area in Dayton, with many high-performing locations of national chains, situated next to several hotels. The two new restaurants will add variety to the areaís offerings, and likely draw in more visitors.
The Fazoliís, which will take a 2,500-square-foot space, will have a drive-through.
The McAlisterís will take a 3,500-square-foot space, leaving one nearly 2,000-square-foot space available.
McAlisterís operates a handfull of Ohio locations include several in the Cincinnati area. The restaurant offers a variety of sandwiches, giant spuds, salads, soups, sweets and its signature sweet tea.
Kolodesh said the project is breaking ground this week.
ďI think the building design and the tenants will be a strong fit for the development,Ē he said.
Kolodesh said he expects both restaurants to open as soon as construction is complete, by the end of the summer.
